About me

I have been creative for as long as I remember. Drawing and painting, designing and making clothes. I always did that next to my studies and my work as an innovation advisor at a multinational medical technology company. It gave me a good balance next to working with my head and typing, chatting, calling.

Woodworking came my way, inspired by colleagues. After a solid education at De Schrijn, I started Mariëlle’s Meubelmakerij in the spring of 2023. As from January 2024 I am a fulltime woodworker.

In my studio I mainly work with Japanese saw, plane, chisel and electric hand tools. To also have access to the larger woodworking machines, I became a member of Coöperatieve Afdeling Houtbewerking in the fall of 2023. Here I can really get loose with larger projects and I find coziness and inspiration with fellow furniture makers.
I love sleek designs and get inspired by Danish furniture designers.

When I’m not designing or working with wood, I like to be outdoors. You can encounter me on a bike-packing holiday (travelling around on a bike) with my partner, in our collective garden or during my weekly run.
