I got some comments about my portfolio along the lines of: “You only make smaller items.” Implying that I am not the first choice when a bigger item needs to be designed. So I decided it is time to take on some bigger work. My latest project will be a two-part TV cabinet.
A fixed part where the TV will be placed, with shelves for a wine rack (middle) and audio equipment (right, hidden behind a tambour door).
The left part is a separate oval-shaped cabinet that snugly fits into a cavity in the large cabinet.
The frame of the cabinets will be made of ash and the tambour doors of elm.
Secondary learnings of this project will be: how to make tambour doors and how to make a curved cabinet from bendable triplex.
To be continued…
