Around New Year’s Eve we were in Markelo to avoid the fireworks in our neighborhood. Great opportunity to use our Museum Annual Card and visit Museum More in Ruurlo Castle. The exhibition is dedicated to Modern Realism, with Carel Willink as the main artist.
More than the paintings, my eye was drawn to the wooden floor in every room. Each room has a different decoration. using motifs that are also reflected in the ceilings and walls. Very nicely done.
At first I thought they were old floors, with handmade inlays. Checked it out when I got home. The floors appear to have been installed fairly recently. The motifs are made with a modern laser cutter. But nevertheless a good example of ‘restoring with respect’.
