Lounge chair and hocker Danish style

I am a great fan of Danish furniture designers. The clean lines and the use of light wood types appeal to me. Often the designs seem simple but if you look closer they are very stylish and refined. This lounge chair was inspired by the designs Hallingdal and CH25 by Hans Wegner and Del Rey by Morningworks. I paid attention to the ergonomics so that the chair not only looks good but is also comfortable to sit on.

For comfort I designed cushions. Stoffeerderij Passepartout cut the cushions from cold foam using my cardboard templates and then covered them with a modern gobelin fabric.

Below are some pictures of the entire process: from making the milling templates, sawing the wood into workable parts, cutting the wood to the correct thickness, roughly sawing out the parts, making the connections exactly to fit, gluing the frame parts, choosing the fabric for the upholstery, milling all the parts to the correct shape, having the cushions made, gluing all the chair parts together, finishing the decorative dowel holes, sanding and waxing the wooden parts, installing the cushions … and then sitting down comfortably.
